Dialing in espresso

Great coffee is the foundation of a delicious drink menu. We will learn how to maximize the potential of your coffee through tools for learning how to dial in espresso and processes for consistency during production hours.

Milk Steaming

Properly steamed milk elevates your guests' entire experience. It is essential for both texture and flavor in a latte, as well as going hand in hand with creating beautiful latte art. We will explore techniques for controlling texture and temperature as well as the basics of latte art.

Habits 

Becoming a good barista is about so much more than just making a good latte. We will learn how to develop habits of efficiency, cleanliness, continual growth, and hospitality as baristas.

Jerriel Martin

Owner Old Market Coffee

Jerriel Martin is the owner and manager of Old Market Coffee in upstate NY. His coffee experience started as a home enthusiast, followed by short training period at Sowers Harvest Café, before opening his own shop and practicing over the last few years. He is the primary trainer for his team and loves to help others find confidence behind the bar.

Nevin Atkinson

Barista Supervisor Sowers Harvest Cafe

Nevin is passionate about places where coffee and conversations about Jesus meet—especially if those conversations involve extraction theory or the hypostatic union—which is why he's worked at Sowers Harvest Café since 2022 and Extend Cafés since 2023.
